The cemetery in Eschen has been subject to changes over the course of time and requires contemporary adjustments. We are showing solutions for dealing with unassigned burial plots and open green spaces. Park-like open spaces are created by arranging urn burial plots in a compact manner. This will allow visitors to the cemetery to walk under a canopy of trees whilst listening to the gentle burbling noise of the fountain and remembering their deceased loved ones. The new burial ground is designed with simplicity and clarity. The individual family graves in front of the relief walls are reminiscent of times past creating harmony and unity with scattered groves. The newly built walls made of coloured concrete with a scratch texture give the cemetery a clear structure providing space for about two hundred urn graves. At night time, a light shines in front of each urn grave symbolizing the sanctuary light and turning each deceased person into a star in the night sky. The overall design of the cemetery Eschen creates an atmosphere of harmony offering a final resting place to the deceased and peaceful surroundings for commemoration to the living.
