In densely built and predominantly paved residential areas, the summer heat has become unbearable in some parts of Liechtenstein. In order to counter these trends and create attractive public spaces, the present project explores the potential of green mobile furniture.
The main objectives of the Green’n’Shady modules are to offer pleasant shade using green structures, mobile furniture, simple and reliable technology subject to low maintenance. Additional goals include creating high-quality outdoor spaces and enhancing the overall amenity values of open areas.
The Green’n’Shady modules feature climbing plants that grow on climbing aids and cover the roof structure consisting of a frame and a central transparent mesh, with their lush green foliage. Wooden seating surfaces with inclined backrests ensure high seating comfort. Integrated water tanks with a capacity of approximately 1000 liters per module irrigate the plants using gravity. Bottom irrigation at the base of the planters supplies water to the plants. The water level indicator and tank level display allow for easy monitoring of water requirements. Access chambers enable water control and drainage. Prior to transportation, the water can be drained from the tanks, significantly reducing the weight of the modules.
The Green’n’Shady seating modules create even more liveable open spaces and meet the design and ecological requirements of our time.
