Pump-Skate-Park, Balzers

The pump track and skate park at the foot of the mediaeval Gutenberg Castle is located right at the heart of the village of Balzers in the Principality of Liechtenstein. The combination of the skate bowl and the pump track brings together the two sports and different cultures. The facility has been cleverly designed to blend in with its surrounding landscape, enabling it to sit comfortably in its sensitive location.

This has been achieved through the use of shades of brown for the installations, picking up on the proximity to Gutenberg Castle. The contrasting blue ground markings lead users into diverging sequences of sensation across the pump track and skate park and separate the tracks from the rest area.

Flowering shrubs and grasses swaying in the breeze emphasise these sensations and enhance the facility with their floral displays all year round.
