The Eschen cemetery is undergoing a transformation. Solutions for dealing with unused burial plots and open green spaces are presented.

​

The compact arrangement of the urn burial plots creates park-like open spaces. Cemetery visitors can enjoy the sound of the gently splashing fountain beneath the canopy of leaves and reflect on their loved ones. The new burial plots impress with their simple and clear design. The individual family graves near the relief walls evoke bygone eras and, together with the interspersed groups of trees, form a harmonious whole.

New, space-defining walls made of colored, scratched concrete create room for approximately two hundred urn niches. At night, a light shines in each niche, reminiscent of the eternal flame. In this way, each deceased person becomes part of the starry sky. The design creates an atmosphere of harmony in the Eschen cemetery, where the deceased find their final resting place and the bereaved a contemplative environment for remembrance.
