In densely built-up, largely sealed urban areas, summer heat has become unbearable in some parts of this country. To counteract these trends and create attractive recreational areas, this project demonstrates the potential of mobile, greened furniture.

The main objectives of "Green'n'Shady" are pleasant shade provided by green structures, mobile furniture, simple and reliable technology, and low maintenance. Further objectives include creating high-quality outdoor spaces and increasing the overall quality of life in open areas.

On the "Green'n'Shady" system, climbing plants twine up trellises, covering the roof structure—a frame with a central, transparent mesh—with their verdant foliage. Wooden seats with sloping backrests ensure comfortable seating. Integrated water tanks, each with a capacity of approximately 1000 liters, irrigate the plants using gravity. A bottom-water irrigation system at the base of the planters provides additional water. Water level indicators and tank level gauges allow for easy monitoring of water requirements. Inspection hatches enable water level checks and drainage. Before transport, the water can be drained from the tanks, significantly reducing the weight of the modules.

The “Green'n'Shady” create even more livable open spaces and meet the design and ecological requirements of today.
