In densely built-up, largely paved residential areas, the summer heat has become unbearable in some places. This phenomenon is also noticeable in the center of Schaan. To counteract these trends, potential improvements to the open spaces in the center of Schaan have been identified. A key component of the open space development concept is the town hall square in the heart of Schaan.

The new town hall square consists of three parts. The lower town hall square, bordering the main road, creates an inviting atmosphere with its permeable gravel surface, attractive benches, and a monolithic granite drinking fountain. On the upper town hall square, the new pergola defines the space . Fragrant, climbing plants adorn the green cube and provide welcome shade. The third area comprises the landscaped, permeable parking area, conveniently located near the town hall entrance.

In addition to shade-providing trees, green facades and roofs, and cooling water features, numerous retention areas incorporate further ecological and climate-regulating aspects into the project. Infiltration areas planted with flowering perennials ensure the sustainable management of rainwater.

The result is a comprehensive project that meets the design and ecological requirements of our time. Following the motto "Schaa Grüa Blau" (Schaan Green Blue), the municipality is getting a new look, thus creating an even more livable Schaan.
